Darshak Gowda to feature in short film that talks about endangered species

Television actor Darshak Gowda is acting in a short film titled Nishachara, which aims to create awareness about the Slender Loris, an endangered species found largely in the western ghats of Karnataka. The under-30-minute film is directed by Satish Krishna and will be released soon.
“I was shooting in Yellapura for the serial Bettada Hoovu. There, I met someone who told me about the importance of Slender Loris and how they maintain ecological balance by eating insects, which in turn helps farmers. I felt sad when I learned that Slender Loris are used for black magic and their habitats are getting lost under the pretext of development. We, as a team, wanted to raise awareness about this. It is also my way of doing my bit for wildlife conservation.”

He plays a wildlife photographer in the movie, which is shot mostly in Yellapura. “I venture out during the night to spot Slender Loris, which are nocturnal species. That is the context,” he says.
