Cinema isn’t a medium to just deliver messages to audiences: Kiran Raj
Actor Kiran Raj has learnt mixed martial arts (MMA) in Thailand for three months to get into the character of Ronny in his upcoming film, Ronny: The Ruler — which has him in a mass-y avatar for the first time in his career. “Audiences are far more intelligent than what we think. They observe every miniscule detail; we can’t take them for granted. So, it’s crucial to master the skills in order to execute the stunts perfectly on the sets. This will help us connect with the audiences better,” observes Kiran.
What does Kiran have to say about his switch to the action genre? “I don’t think cinema is meant to deliver a message to individuals. Every person keeps learning lessons one way or the other by merely being a part of our society. They need entertainment, and I want to provide that. Whether it (the genre) impacts the audience negatively or positively is completely left to their perspective,” replies Kiran, who has collaborated with director Gurutej Shetty for the second time. “We share a certain wavelength and bonding, which make it easy to work together,” he adds.
The actor, apparently, has no plans of returning to television. “I used TV as a launching pad to foray into films, as I did not have any background to immediately get into films. I have earned my fans through television, which I want to carry forward with films,” clarifies Kiran.
