Actor-producer-director Dinesh Gandhi has decided to change the sub-title of his forthcoming film Chatrapathi, which will release this Friday. Initially, the film was titled Chatrapathi – Underworldge Adipathi; now it has been changed to Chatrapathi – Hindutvakke Adipathi. The film was at the centre of controversy when many pro-Hindu and pro-Maratha organizations objected to the film’s subtitle.
They claimed that they would not allow the release of the film if the phrase ‘Underworldge Adipathi’ was not changed as they claimed it would hurt the sentiments of the people of India. They even wrote a letter to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to insist that producer and director of the film to change the subtitle. Though the KFCC wrote a letter to Dinesh directing him to change it, Gandhi he refused to do so.
On Tuesday, however, Dinesh decided to change the subtitle to avoid further complications, including protests and a stay on the film.
