Director Udayaprakashs film Auto Raja has been in the news often because of casting issues. The filmmaker, who had left the casting choice for the male lead to an audience poll, first chose poll winner Ajai Rao. But soon after the director announced this, Ajai walked out of the project. After much deliberation, Udayaprakash finally managed to convince Golden Star Ganesh to take on the role.
Shortly after, he announced that Mollywood actor Bhamaa and Sandalwood newbie
Chaitra would star with Ganesh in the film and everything seemed fine. In fact, just a week ago, Kiccha Sudeep officially flagged off the project.
But the film has run into trouble again. Chaitra, who is making her film debut with
Viraat, cannot be a part of
Auto Raja due to a clause in her contract that stipulates that she cannot have a release before
Viraat hits the big screen. When we signed up Chaitra for our film
Auto Raja, we had no idea that she was contractually bound by the makers of her debut film
Viraat. The contract does not prohibit her from working on other projects, but if our film is ready for release before
Viraat, the contract could have stalled our release, Udayaprakash says, adding, This was when we thought it would be better for us to not have her on board.
Udayaprakash, however, adds, that Chaitra was unaware of the clause in her earlier contract when she signed up for
Auto Raja.
The makers are now looking for a replacement and while sources say that the frontrunner for this role is the
Govindaya Namaha heroine Parul, Udayaprakash says, that they have a zeroed in on a few choices, but havent received an OK from anyone yet.
