Celebs, child right’s activists, lawmakers to attend the Jeerjimbe premiere tonight

Everything about

Jeerjimbe

— produced by Bee Hive Productions and

Pushkar Films

— is a little different. This applies to the premiere tonight as well, which will not only have celebs and the press in attendance (which is usually the case), but also child right’s activists, lawmakers and legislators, among others, watching the film.

“Jeerjimbe is a positive story. The film shows that no matter what populist ideas and schemes the government announces, they will have a positive reach. In this film, we have shown how the free cycle scheme to girls has given some wings to chase their dreams. It will be an eye opener for them to know what further can be done to reduce the cases of child marriage in the state,” says director Karthik Saragur. He adds that several social organisations in Bengaluru and Mysuru that have adopted schools will be taking kids to watch the movie in the first week. “Some companies are sponsoring tickets for different schools and colleges; it’s become a CSR activity — cinema as a social responsibility,” Karthik says. The team has also placed specially-designed bicycles with wings on them at around 50 theatres in Bengaluru and Mysuru, so that people can easily spot where the film is being screened.
