Darshan's upcoming release Bul Bul, which was supposed to release this month is now slated to release in May. The film directed by MD Sridhar has Darshan,
Ambareesh and newbie
Rachita Ram in lead roles. The film is a remake of the Telugu film
Darling, which had Prabhas and
Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles.
The film was extensively shot in Bangalore, Goa and Mysore, among other places and was also in the news for Darshan and Amabareesh doing Psy's
Gangnam Style moves for a song in the flick.
It was reported that the film was all set to release in the month of April.
But now, with the new election code rule, the film will see a delay in the release. According to the election code, any film that has a celebrity who is contesting in the assembly elections should not be screened in theatres. Their films will also be barred from appearing on television. This is done to prevent movies influencing voters. Since Ambareesh in contesting in the upcoming state elections that is all set to take place on may 5, the film will release post the elections. In a recent interview, director MD Sridhar said, "There is a bit of confusion in the date of the release. Though the date is not yet finalized, we will release the film post the elections."
Other movies like
Chatrigalu Sir Chatrigalu (
Umashree) and
January Ondu Bidugade (
Pooja Gandhi) is also set to release after the state elections.
