The Buddhivanta -2 team had recently announced that the movie will hit the screens on September 15th this year, just a few days before lead actor and Real Star
Upendra’s birthday. But, the team has now postponed the release, without citing any reasons. In a lengthy press note, the team informed that they will not be able to bring the film to the theatres as planned and that they would update about the new film release date later.
The film, which has been in the making since 2019, had a troubled beginning. Debutant DN Mayura, who was supposed to direct the project, walked out of the film merely 20 days after the announcement and shooting and cited creative differences for the move. Later, one of the associates of R Chandru’s Upendra-starrer I Love You was supposed to take over the project, but it ultimately fell into the hands of Jaidhev. But, before reaching the finish line, Covid hit and the movie came to a grinding halt.
The first poster of the film was subjected to much scrutiny for its resemblance with Hollywood Mad Max. Finally after 4 long years, the team had given a release date, but has now retracted that too!
Many fans expressed disappointment about the news and some even raised questions about if it had anything to do with Uppi directorial UI. A fan, sharing the news on Twitter, wrote, “Thought we will see out Uppi in 3 diff avatars in 2023 - Kabza, Buddhivanta 2 and UI. Look like v are not lucky.” While another wrote: “Us fans are waiting from 4 years, relesae the film now.”
The movie also has Meghana Raj, Sonal Monterio and Srinagara Kitty in pivotal roles. Upendra is said to be playing a dual role in Buddhivanta -2. Looks like fans will have to wait for some more days to see the updated version of ‘Buddhivanta’.
