Bombay Jayashri says she was disheartened when British singer Adele took home the Oscar for Best Original song at this year's Academy Award, the category (Best Original Song) the Carnatic singer was nominated in. Jayashri was nominated for her Pi's Lullaby, which was used in director Ang Lee's acclaimed film Life of Pi. Adele won the award for the title track of the James Bond film Skyfall.

However, Jayashri said the feeling of loss was only momentary and she enjoyed the glitzy ceremony. She admitted that she felt bad for perhaps three or four seconds and thought, "Oh she (Adele) took it away from me." But she recovered and said that she was honoured to be nominated and that she represented India. She also said she was grateful to Ang Lee for giving her the opportunity.
Jayashri -- who has sung the Kannada songs Huduga Huduga (Meghave Meghave), Ee Thampu Gali (Karanji) and Suvvali Suvvalali (Janani), among others -- said that the Oscar ceremony took her back to her childhood as she felt like a schoolgirl attending an annual function. She said that everything at the event was done up beautifully. She added that the directors, actors and producers were all very excited and happily interacted with each other.
