Kannada film fans are in for a treat in the next month or so as several big-budget Sandalwood films will be released. Reason: IPL and the exam fever. While the exam season starts at the end of March, the IPL season will start in April. Both are a big threat to the film industry and many makers have decided to release their films before then.
The first among such films was
Crazy Star, which was released on Valentine's Day.
This week will see the Sri Murali-starrer Ugramm. The Vijay flick
Shivajinagara, which is being directed by PN Satya will release on February 27. The Pradeep film
Rangan Style, which has been being directed by debutant Prashanth, is also likely to be released on the same day. The Ganesh-starrer
Dil Rangeela, which has been helmed by Preetham Gubbi, and the Chiranjeevi Sarja film
Chandralekha, directed by Omprakash Rao, are expected to be released in the first week of March.
Ulidavaru Kandanthe, which was scheduled for a February-end release, has been postponed to the second week of March. Many small films like
Agraja,
Hara,
Just Love,
Karodpathi,
Sadagaraand
Chaturbhjua, among others, are also awaiting release.
With so many films lined up release in such a short span of time, the main problem that their makers have to face is the availability of theaters. Big-budget and hyped films look for big theaters, which there is a shortage of on KG Road. So, there will definitely be a lot of confusion about which films get which theatres and for how long.
