Actress Manvita Kamath joins the list of Kannada actresses who are trying to diversify their porfolio with films across different regional industries. Manvita, who has already done a Marathi-Kannada bilingual titled Rajasthan Diaries, is set to make her debut in Telugu films now. The actress kickstarted work on her debut film on Friday. The film is titled Malli Modalaindi, in which she will star alongside Nagarjuna's nephew
Sumanth.
“I’m very thrilled to be making my debut in Telugu. I've been undergoing some workshops and brushing up on some skills in Hyderabad. I play this sweet girl in this film, who is a constant support to the hero, essayed by Sumanth. The film is being directed by TG Keerthi Kumar,” shares Manvita about her Tollywood debut.
Quiz her on how she bagged the film and she shares an interesting story. “I thought some solid performance-oriented roles would come to me after Tagaru, but they didn’t. I felt bad, but continued to work on myself and ensured I networked not only with people in the film industry here in Karnataka, but beyond also. It was a stylist friend of mine from Hyderabad who informed me about this film. The team auditioned me and were impressed. Not only did I bag this film, but I also got a two-film deal with the makers,” she
explains.
Manvita, like most of her peers, says that the past year did make her worry about the career. But she had her plans to ensure she emerged stronger. “I didn’t waste time during the pandemic lazing at home, and focused on my fitness, nourishing my dreams of being on the big screen again, sharpening my acting skills, learning new methods, dancing my heart out and trying to imbibe everything that I could entertain my audience with better,” says the actress.
