​‘Bell Bottom’ to ‘Yajamana’: FIVE Kannada films which completed 100 days at the box office in 2019

Sandalwood produced fewer films in 2019, when compared to 2018. Last year there were more than 230 Kannada movies and this year the number went down to less than 200. Out of these few, there were some which managed to complete a run of 100 days at the theatres. Here’s taking a look at top Kannada movies which completed 100 days at the box office in 2019.

​Bell Bottom

‘Bell Bottom’ emerged as a Sandalwood hit. It featured Rishab Shetty and Haripriya in the lead role. Rishab essayed the role of Detective Divakar. The story of ‘Bell Bottom’ was written by TK Dayanand, directed by Jayathirtha and produced by Santosh Kumar. ‘Bell Bottom’ was the first Kannada film of 2019 to complete 100 days at the box office. The plot was based in the 80s and Rishab played the solo lead role for the first time in his career. Achyut Kumar, PD Sathish, and director Yogaraj Bhat have also featured in this film, whose music was composed by Ajaneesh Loknath. The team is now planning a sequel.

​Yajamana

‘Yajamana’ was the second hit of 2019 which ran for 100 days. The movie starred with Darshan and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead. The story of ‘Yajamana’ was written by V Harikrishna and Pon Kumaran, the film was produced by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha. ‘Yajamana’ was set against the backdrop of a village and featured the story of oil mafia. ‘Yajamana’ also featured Thakur Anoop Singh, Devaraj, P Ravi Shankar and Dhananjay in pivotal roles.

​I Love You

‘I Love You’ is yet another successful movie which entertained for 100 days in theatres. Directed by R Chandru, the film starred with Real Star Upendra and Rachita Ram in the lead roles. ‘I Love You’ released in Kannada and Telugu. The blockbuster film was produced by the director under his banner Sri Siddeshwara Enterprises. ‘I Love You’ also featured Sonu Gowda, PD Sathish Chandra, Sayaji Shinde, Brahmanandam and Jai Jagadish.

Kurukshetra

Darshan’s 50th film ‘Kurukshetra’ marked his second box office success in 2019. The film was set against the backdrop of Mahabharata and featured star artists like V Ravichandran, Ambareesh, Arjun Sarja, Shashikumar, Sonu Sood, Sneha, and others in the lead role. ‘Kurukshetra’ was produced by Munirathna and directed by Naganna. V Nagendra Prasad wrote the songs and V Harikrishna had composed music. The movie was well-received by the Kannada and Telugu audience. ‘Kurukshetra’ had massive 3D effects and featured a starry cast.
