Producer and former president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Basant Kumar Patil and director P Sheshadri have come together to make an art film, which they say is based on a real life incident. The film, which has been titled
December 1, will launch around 15 new actors. V Manohar will compose the music for the film, while Ashok Raman is the cinematographer.
The shooting for the film will begin at the end of October in the fort city of Bijapur and will quickly wind up in November.
Bangalore Times has learnt that
December 1 will compete in the National Awards next year. It must be pointed out that all of Sheshadri’s previous seven films have won national awards. This is the third film in which Sheshadri has worked with Basant, the previous two being
Bettada Jeeva and
Bharath Stores.
Basant was in the news recently when he and actress
Priya Hassan separate filed petitions in the High Court challenging the State Film Awards for 2010-11 which was announced in April last year. The duo claimed that there was a conflict of interest of a couple of selection committee members.
