and reflect on the undue pressure heaped on school-going children today, he would consider it a victory. But the reactions to the film, says the filmmaker, have far exceeded his expectations. “I wanted the movie to make good business, but I am overwhelmed by the response to it. Schools have been taking their students to watch the movie, an IAS officer addressed a school gathering and asked them to watch the film, and parents that I met at movie theatres shared that they will now pause and reflect on their

,” says Kaviraj. He adds that the icing on the cake was Jaggesh’s wife,

Parimala

’s response. “She said that while Server Somanna, is her favourite Jaggesh film, given that the character’s struggles mirrored what he had gone through in life, Kalidaasa... comes a close second.”
The team is planning to screen the movie, produced by Uday Kumar under Uday Films, for Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, S Suresh Kumar. “He is busy, given that it’s election season, but we are trying to screen it for him. Several citizens have tagged him and other government officials on social media posts about Kalidaasa..., requesting them to watch the movie and rethink the education system according to contemporary times,” he sums up.
