Ashada Masa is the month of the Hindu calendar. It begins from June 22 and ends on July 22. The entire period is considered ominous, according to beliefs, and people generally avoid starting any new projects during the time. It is a well known fact that Kannada filmmakers avoid launching their films during the period.

Same thing has happened this year too. In fact, sources say more than 15 films were launched few days before Ashada Masa started.
A source says, “In fact, filmmakers were in a rush to start their projects before Ashada Masa started, and then continue with their shooting.” “At times it takes a hilarious turn when you see almost two dozens films getting launched at the same time,” the source adds.
The films like Ice Pice, E Kempe Gowda Nagara, Missed Call, Patharagitthi, Kanji Pinji, E Hrudaya, Pungi Daasa are the other launches which took place before Ashada Masa
In the first six months of the 2013, a total of 60 Kannada movies were released and most of them proved box-office bombs. Now, it has to be seen that all the precautions taken by the filmmakers to avoid Ashada Masa launch will help them to churn box office hits. Only time will tell!
