Amrutha Iyengar bags Krishna’s directorial debut

Actor Krishna, of Madarangi fame, has been shooting for his directorial debut Love Mocktail. The film, which also stars Milana Nagraj, has its other lead in place now. Amrutha Iyengar has been cast for the same. “We have begun shooting with her already. It was an exhaustive search before we finalised her. We had considered around 40 to 50 girls before we chanced upon her. The reason was that we wanted someone who was not just a good looker and performer but was fluent in Kannada too. When we began working with Amrutha, on the first day itself, she surprised me as she had the ease of a seasoned actress,” says Krishna.
Talking about the role of the leading women in the film, Krishna says, “Both the heroines have important roles. The film is about the love stories in the life of the character played by me, which is the reason for the title. The idea occurred to me once when I was travelling to Mysuru from Bengaluru. We began shooting in 15 days.”
Was direction always on his mind? “I wanted to turn director ever since I worked with Suri sir in 2010. I have written scripts, but nothing was compelling enough. I’d usually work six months on a script, but discard it eventually because I would not like it. Now, things seem to have worked out just fine. This film revolves around the life of this guy I play and his tryst with love. Nearly 70% of it is when he’s grown up. There are parts of the film that require me to play a college guy. I’m in the process of losing weight for the same right now,” adds Krishna.
