, he hopes to be part of the new wave of independent artistes who are doing their bit to uplift Kannada music. What gives him an edge is the fact that his musician-actor cousin
Alok Babu
R, better known by his stage name
All.OK
, is pushing him into the limelight.
“AJ is a trained singer with a voice that suits melody tracks. He has been collaborating with me for a while, but the plan was always to launch him independently. When we conceptualized Naa, the idea was to portray AJ as the Justin Bieber of Kannada music, in terms of the genre and presentation of music. Naa will capture what youngsters today think of romance. We shot the video in Dubai and will release it online shortly,” says All.OK.
AJ adds, “Music has always been my passion. Having grown up hearing Alok’s songs, I also wanted to step into the industry and he has now made it possible with a
romantic track
that is just apt for me. I have had offers to be a part of certain music shows, but Alok suggested that I should make a name for myself as an independent artiste first. I am looking forward to the release of the song now,” says AJ.
The song has been written by director Raghu Shastry of Run Anthony fame and features rapper
Martin Yo
as well.
