Virat B Gowda makes his Sandalwood debut as a director with female-centric film Juliet 2, set to hit the screens on Friday.
On taking up a female-oriented script, Virat says, “I feel there are hardly any female- or hero-oriented movies. This is a subject that inspires me and even people will like it, irrespective of gender. We have shown a woman performing the acts of a mass hero.”

The story kicks off in an urban area and is the journey of techie Juliet, played by Brinda Acharya. She is also boxer and wants to fulfil her father’s dreams, but faces many obstacles. “Martial arts is the main element in the movie,” says Virat, “and we have ensured everyone is trained to get into the skin of the character.”

The film will have two parts. “Juliet 2 will be a short prequel, with a run time of under one hour since we didn’t want to drag it.”
Narrating the challenges of shooting in the forests of the Western Ghats near Belthangady, he says: “We shot for nearly 34 days. It rained relentlessly for about 18 days and we had to cope with leeches and transportation problems. But I cherish all this since it is my first film.”
