began work on a short film.

Titled #TheWarriors, the film has been made with students of filmmaker

Nagathihalli Chandrashekar

’s film school. Telling us more about this, Adarsh says, “I was offered to do this a little while ago. I was thinking about what subject to take up next, when I came across news of the recent building collapse in Dharward that claimed 16 lives. I watched that online and was shocked that news channels were only broadcasting political rallies. It was unfortunate that such a big disaster had taken place and no one cared about it. That shook me, and that is when I decided this would be the subject of my film.”

The 16-minute-long film highlights the ordeal of the survivors of being stuck under the debris for 4-5 hours. It also shows four friends in Bengaluru discussing in a coffee shop about why things are the way they are. “Of the 15 actors from the film school who feature in this short, around eight are from

North Karnataka

, which helped me get the authenticity that I was looking for. Since all the actors don’t have much experience, they underwent 1.5 weeks of intensive rehearsals. The entire film took around three weeks to complete. And we are now looking at getting it screened at film festivals,” says Adarsh. Others who form the crew are DOP Gokul Pillai, sound designer Nithin Lukose, music director Schuchit SM Rajhagopal (a student of the film school) and Prasad Cherkady, who co-wrote the film with Adarsh.
