Swapna Krishna, the wife of cinematographer-turned-director S Krishna, is no stranger to showbiz. As an actress, director and producer for TV, she has been there done that. Then, she took a giant leap into making films with next week’s big-ticket release,
Pailwaan
, under their banner RRR Motion Pictures (named after their three children), based on the confidence that she and
Krishna have on its content, and the fact that they could focus on the creative parts of filmmaking, while Krishna’s brother, Devaraj, took care of all the finances.

Sudeep sir had suggested that we take up production as well. But I was not sure if we could pull it off. Subsequently, when we went to Sudeep sir for Pailwaan, he said he would do it only if we were making it and assured us that he would be with us, come what may,” explains Swapna.
The film releases on September 12 in five languages in the country and outside — a mammoth effort that Swapna has been overseeing over the past few days. But what is the vision of the banner? “To bring good content to Kannada cinema. We are not only looking at giving audiences a paisa vasool experience. They should also be able to forget the outside world in those three hours that they are spending at the movie hall and enjoy themselves. Eventually, we also want to enable young talent, by giving them a platform to showcase their work,” she signs off.
