A gang of unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked a Kannada film actor and robbed his car and mobile phone in
Basaweshwaranagar
on Tuesday night. However, the police investigating the case believe the actor is faking the robbery case after his involvement in a tussle with a group of political party
workers
near Basaweshwaranagar water tank in
Kirloskar Colony
. The actor has been identified as
Karthik Vikram
, who featured in
Nagavalli
Vs Apthamithraru, which was earlier titled Apthamitra 2.
Karthik Vikram is a resident of Kirloskar Colony and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Basaweshwaranagar. Vikram told police that his car was taken away and mobile phone at 11.30 pm when he was returning home after dropping his friend.
As it was a medico-legal case, the police got to know about the alleged assault from the hospital.
“We have taken the actor’s statements. However, local intelligence points at a different version altogether. It seems that the actor had hit another vehicle on Tuesday night and started demanding its owner to pay for the damages. This has resulted in a heated argument. Workers of a political party were tying buntings in the locality had witnessed the accident. They said the actor blamed the other driver though it was clearly his mistake. Workers also started arguing with the actor and in the heated argument, Vikram is said to have been attacked by the mob,” said an officer.
Vikram, who sustained injuries on his ears, is said to be out of danger. The Basaweshwaranagar police registered a case and are further investigating.
