Actor Darshan fan murder case: 8 new cases registered against the actor

Actor Darshan Thogupdeepa was arrested by the Karnataka police on June 11 in relation to a murder case. The actor is accused of murdering his fan, Renuka Swamy, and the case took a new turn today as the police revealed that there are eight new charges against the actor. News 18 reported that the Kannada star has been charged with kidnapping and extortion as well.

Darshan has been booked by the police under IPC 364, 355, 148, 120(B), 143, 147, and 148, and it includes charges for kidnapping, extortion, use of criminal force, use of deadly weapon, criminal conspiracy, and riots, among others. The actor's police custody has come to an end, and the actor, along with Pavithra Gowda and 17 others accused, are to be presented in court today. News reports suggest that following the hearing, all 19 will be put under judicial custody in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru.
Darshan is said to have murdered his fan Renuka Swamy, an auto driver, on June 9, who spoke ill of his girlfriend Pavithra Gowda. Darshan is said to have hurt him after Renuka Swamy sent him an obscene message and a photo of Pavithra Gowda. Apart from the murder charges, several other cases have been registered against Darshan by the Bengaluru police.
