The remake rights of
Kannada
film ACT-1978, which is the first Kannada film to hit screens post the pandemic, will soon be remade in
Hindi
, on a much bigger scale than the original. The role portrayed by
Yagna Shetty will be essayed by a
Bollywood
actress. The movie, directed by
Mansore, is likely to be remade in
Telugu
and
Tamil
as well.
Veerendra Mallana, one of the writers of the film, on his Facebook page posted, “As ACT-1978 received good response from people across language barriers, the remake rights have been officially sold to a prominent production company. ACT-1978 will be made on a higher budget. The entire technical team will be having new members and the new title design will be revealed by the team soon.”
The crux of the story is that
Geetha, a pregnant widow, runs from pillar to post to get money under the government schedule, despite waiting for months. Infuriated by the laxity of government officials, she decides to lock the government office by strapping a bomb to her stomach, which draws the attention of the entire State government. Satya Hegde is the cinematographer. Dayanand TK and Veerendra Mallana have penned the story. Rahul Shivakumar is the cinematographer.
