A transgender hitman onscreen

As a first-time director, Prakash Hebbala was adamant that his debut work have something fresh, as far as the story or approach to it was concerned. And he believes he has achieved that with Hafta, a massy underworld tale, with a transgender as the central character. “Normally, there is a stereotypical depiction of members of the community on screen, in terms of their body language and what they do, chiefly begging at traffic signals.I wanted to portray them in a different light, which is why the protagonist, played by Vardhan, is a sharpshooter with the underworld, who also happens to be a member of the transgender community. The teaser of the film was well received and we are looking at releasing the full-fledged trailer on Tuesday,” says Prakash.
