A title change for Pavan Wadeyar’s Hindi debut
Pavan Wadeyar is currently busy with the post production of his Bollywood debut starring Parambrata Chatterjee and Geeta Basra. The film which was earlier titled as Notary has seen a change of title and is now renamed as Awasthy vs Awasthy. “We wanted to change it because Notary is a serious film and people will easily be able to figure out that it’s a legal film with some amount of courtroom drama. But the film is more than just that,” shares director Pavan Wadeyar. The male protagonist, Parambrata, goes by the name Awasthy in the film.
“And his character has many layers to it that go beyond just the legal angle of the film. And those layers are about dealing with different aspects of himself, hence the title Awasthy vs Awasthy. I thought it adds a lot of intrigue and depth to the film as well than just calling it Notary,” adds Pavan.
Meanwhile, the director had previously shared that he wrote the film’s story a while ago and it needed a large canvas to be told. “The subject is such that it can’t be narrated in a typical formulaic manner and had to follow a more innovative style of storytelling. I realised that I can’t possibly do it in Kannada since the setting is such and hence decided to do it in Hindi,” Pavan had mentioned in an earlier interview.
“My lead actor Parambrata is in a field that more often than not, throws situations that go against his core beliefs and what happens to him at such times and how he handles these moments form the crux of the story. It’s a feel-good satire and will entertain you from start to finish,” Pavan had said.
