Debutant director Ambarish BM is on a mission ' to present a story that calls for action on a social issue that needs immediate attention in a way that will force people to sit up and take notice. Add to that the fact that such a presentation needs to be technically strong. Geared up with a cast full of newcomers, his film Jwalantham is a suspense thriller set in a place called Lilo.
'Where this place is, why we are emphasizing such a place and what happened there are what make up the story,' says Ambarish.
Elaborating on the content, the director adds, 'The film highlights mass killing or genocide, which makes this the first Kannada film to focus on such a topic. While you would connect genocide to Hitler, it is very much a reality in today's times, except that I find that a lot of us tend to ignore reality as long as it does not affect us directly. Close to 70% of Jwalantham has been shot on the ocean as the mystery unfolds there. It highlights a particular story based on the situations faced by the farmers of North Karnataka.'
The soon-to-be-released film stars Jwala, Deepti Kapse,
Deepa Gowda and
Achyuth Kumar in prominent roles.
