Ondu Ghanteya Kathe Movie Review: A not-so-palatable comedy

Plot: Playboy Rahul ditches his girlfriend Saroja to choose to settle with a woman of his parents' choice. He still wants to fool around with her post his marriage and he expresses this to her. She decides to take revenge in a way that he'd have never expected. All hell breaks loose thereafter...

Review: This quirky comedy has a premise where the hero ends up fooling around with a girl from his college in the pretext of love and ends up losing his 'saman' as part of a vengeful act from his spurned lover who decides to teach him an unforgettable lesson.

The film begins with this incident and what follows thereafter are truckloads of jokes and one-liners that are meant to be below the belt, quite literally. While there are some lines that might evoke a laugh or giggle, the rest seem just stretched with the innuendos and gags being one too many.

While the filmmaker has chosen to have a powerful message in the end, the film does not make up for that intent. There may be a message that might be empowering to women eventually, but the rather distasteful stereotypes in terms of some of the other women characters end up undoing whatever good intentions are packed.

Ondu Ghanteya Kathe is rated A and has some innuendo filled lines that might entertain some. Watch it at your own risk.
