Ellidde Illi Tanaka follows Surya (Srujan Lokesh), who has lived most of his life abroad, after his father whisks him away from the ‘unsuitable’ company (friends) he was keeping. But the two decades abroad only strengthened their bond and Surya jumps at the first opportunity to return to home ground and reunite with his buddies, while also, for the first-time ever, living life on his terms.
Back in India, Surya sees Nandini (Hariprriya) and it is love at first sight for him. As luck would have it, he gets to meet and woo her, albeit based on a few lies that he strings along the way. How Nandini, a stickler for honesty, reacts to this deceit forms the rest of the narrative.
Debutant director Thejasvi set out to make an entertainer and give Srujan an image makeover, which he does. The film has laughs aplenty, which almost made the first half feel like an extension of their hit TV show, Maja Talkies, but the second half makes up for that with romance, drama and action galore. Srujan Lokesh, Giri Shivanna and Hariprriya, along with the rest of the extended cast make this a worthwhile movie outing.
