Plot: Ugravathara, based on true incidents, revolves around the rising crime against women in metro cities

Movie review: Durga (Priyanka Upendra) joins the police department as an ordinary police constable but that doesn't deter her from fighting against evil forces.

She is a brave and diligent police officer who faces all kinds of challenges and fights alone against anti social elements without worrying about her designation in the police department.

Winning appreciation from the police department for her courageous acts, she gets promoted to a higher post where she has the herculean task of solving a series of rape cases and atrocities against women, which even includes acid attacks.

Directed by Gurumurthy, in Ugravathara, the cop named Durgi uses all her powers to control the rampant crime, especially against women without needing anyone’s help. Will she manage to restore peace and control the crime in the society forms the crux of the story.


In this action-packed film Priyanka shines in her role. She draws attention with her mass dialogues and stunt sequences. Priyanka has carried the movie on her shoulders.

The makers lost an opportunity to make the simple story more compelling and gripping which would have elevated the story. Nataraj Peri in the lead role does justice and actors Suman, Ajay, Pavithra Lokesh, and cockroach Sudhi have delivered good performances. Ugravatara is a movie that has a social message which can be watched once if you are an action lover
