Sweety

Sweety Nanna Jodi is a cocktail of corporate war, action, romance, emotion and comedy. Kudos to director Vijayalakshmi Singh for a neat script and fine narration. However, the movie could have been trimmed by at least 15 minutes, with a few sequences in the second half omitted. Though the film opens on a lively note, it takes a serious turn in the second half. Song sequences, which appear out of the blue, mar the flow of the story.

The story revolves around three characters — Siddharth (Aditya), his mother, industrialist Vasundharadevi (Ramya Krishna) and Priya (Radhika), the daughter of a teacher (Girish Karnad). Siddharth falls in love with Priya but the rich and arrogant Vasundharadevi doesn’t approve of the relationship. She harasses Priya to such an extent that the girl is forced to part ways with Siddharth. However, the duo is reunited in the end, thanks to Siddharth’s father (Jai Jagadish), who comes back to India after 20 years.

Though Radhika scores full marks for her bubbly act, there seems to be overdose of her. Aditya excels in emotional sequences but it is Ramya Krishna who steals the show with her brilliant performance. Umashri is impressive in her portrayal of Krishna’s PA. Arjun Janya’s tunes fail to leave a lasting impression on listeners.
