Sugar Factory

Plot: Sugar Factory follows Arya and Aditi, two non-believers in the institution of marriage who end up meeting in a pub in Goa and subsequently develop a relationship.

Review: A popular Youtuber, Ammalu(Ruhani Shetty), sets out on a journey to Goa to explore a very famous pub named ‘Sugar Factory'. Here she encounters Arya(Darling Krishna) who narrates about his past life.

Arya is a wedding planner who loves to live his life full tilt, without committing to any serious relationships. He meets a girl named Adithi (Sonal Monteiro) who is a techie and has a similar approach towards life. In an inebriated stage, both go on Instagram live and announce that they are taking their relationship to the next level. They part ways soon as they come to realise their philosophies on life and love.

Struggling to move past the memories, Arya shifts to his native Mysuru where he meets Nandini on the road. The choosy Nandini falls in love with Arya, introducing another twist to the tale. Will Aditya reunite with Adithi or marry Nandini and start afresh?

Based on a true story, director Deepak Aras’ Sugar Factory starts slowly and takes its time to establish each character. A formulaic treatment to the breezy romantic subject with a predictable plot, it has several layers and encompasses how youngsters approach relationships. It takes serious turns towards the climax, yet still manages to entertain. The Goa and Kazakhstan based shooting is a visual treat although the song placement is abrupt and hurts the tempo of the story.

Krishna continues the romantic genre with Sugar Factory, which has become his forte. He takes to the character of Arya like a fish taking to water. Sonal and Adhvithi characters add different perspectives to the story. Overall, Sugar Factory, which is a new generation love story, makes for a fine weekend watch.
