Sreemanta

Plot: Sreemanta is a slice of a village life which is reeling under drought, but it doesn't last too long

Movie review: The plot unfurls with the village facing severe shortage of water due to lack of rain from the last few years so hapless villagers perform a puja to the rain god. This leads to heavy showers which finally leaves entire villagers thrilled as they grow heaps of crops. Owing to the harvest, the villagers conduct a grand fair which opens up the meat of the story.

The main protagonist Krishna, who is loved by villagers, decides to do Abhimanyu's character in a mythological play, which leads him to meet a girl from Mumbai and fall in love with her, which upsets rural girl Padma who always wishes good to Krishna, thus leading to a twist in the plot.

Sreemanta, which captures the ups and downs of village life, falls flat and has a predictable storyline. Though, the movie touches upon the plight of farmers in patches it doesn't make an impression and an overstretched plot which just gives a peek into the rural life tests patience. Even Sonu Sood's cameo doesn't save this film.
