Shri Sathyanarayana

Narayana, a spiritual leader, is questioned his beliefs by an atheist at a conference on religion. He narrates his own tale of turning from a non-believer to a believer, while also highlighting the importance of the Shri Sathyanarayana Pooja.

Devotional films are nearly a rarity in Sandalwood, with hardly any producers wanting to 'risk' their money in these films. Little wonder then that films like Shri Sathyanarayana stand out different amidst the commercial films that hit the screens every week. While the film is not technically the most sound film, falling short on many aspects at times, the divine message and the simple old-school storyline, which is followed here, is what ends up making the film appealing to those that like the devotional genre of films.

Harish Raj plays 16 roles, which mostly are cameos that are shown during the simultaneous narrative of the pooja tales. He does an earnest job, though, one wishes the old-school props used to narrate the forest and sea episodes were upgraded to today's tastes of the audience. Ramya Barna has a small role, but does her bit. Veterans Cudavalli Chandrashekhar and Jai Jagadish are their reliable selves.

This film is meant for those who like their dose of devotional films, which reaffirms their faith and belief in God.
