Santhu Straight Forward

Story: Santhu is the typical do-gooder youngster, who is also the angry young hero. He falls for college student Ananya after a series of chance meetings. But, there's also dreaded don Deva in the picture forming the triangle.

Review: There has been a lot of contemplation on whether Santhu Straight Forward is a remake of the Simbu film Vaalu. Now that it has hit the screens, we can say that it has the essence of the film, but this film ups the ante with a lot of good commercial elements that one would expect in a star vehicle that stars someone like Yash.

The film has all the prerequisites that a film of this genre needs, a cutesy love story, ample amount of fights, an ensemble cast with big names, loads and loads of action and those punch dialogues that play to the gallery. Does this mix work out right for director Mahesh Rao? Mostly yes. He has one of the most sought after pairs of the industry. He has a lavish budget and a story that entertains in the old-fashioned style, albeit in a more contemporary makeover.

The story is predictable and has most of the tropes used in big star family entertainers. But it does manage to hold the attention of the viewers throughout. And the dialogues by Anil Kumar particular have the fans hooting at most times, which works for the film.

The cinematography is good and the editing is mostly crisp. This ensures one remains entertained at most times. Certain bits, like the scenes involving Yash and Tilak stay on and are worth a mention.

Yash leads the way with another strong performance and Radhika Pandit matches him shoulder to shoulder. The rest of the ensemble, which includes Devraj, Shaam, Ananth Nag and Tilak among others, do their job well.

This film is for fans of commercial cinema in its purest form. Of course, it may have a song or fight extra, but that's always a bonus for people who like such cinema.
