Rudrakshipura

A red diamond in the possession of a feared real estate baron and don is considered to have ominous powers. What happens when this don's path crosses the path of five petty criminals who want to make it big? What is the story behind the diamond?

Smart ideas alone do not make a good film and this is an example of the same. The filmmaker had an idea of a thriller drama that unfolds late. Instead of concentrating on giving a good narrative, the makers have packed in a lot of massy elements that are haphazardly yoked together to ensure the young hero gets his own 'build up' shots and jarring music to make the actors seem larger than life.

The story of the film seems to head nowhere in the first half. This is good enough to ensure that one gets impatient and gives up on the narrative. It takes a lot of will to stay on to watch what happens in the second half of the film. The story eventually doesn't pack in any punch and the making seems rather amateur, making it a tough ordeal for one to sit through the film. A talented actor like Ravi Chethan seems to be shortchanged in a role, in which his background score seems to have more power than his character.

Rudrakshipura eventually is a film that barely entertains. Watch the narrative at your own risk.
