Priyanka

Priyanka is a happily married wife, until she encounters a youngster who falls for her and he decides to make his presence felt. Will she fall prey to this stalker?

This is a love story with a thriller twist that Dinesh Baboo has narrated in his signature style. An adaptation of a techie's murder that happened in HSR Layout, this film is also reminiscent of the filmmaker's 1997 film Amruthavarshini. The premise of the film is the same, there's a happy-go-lucky couple living in their own world and the entry of a third person rocks the foundation of a nest.

The movie begins with the murder of the protagonist, which is followed by the investigation of Priyanka's alleged paramour and Priyanka. Prakash Raj and Veena Sunder make for the two contrasting investigating cops and the scenes that follow in the investigations are both gripping and entertaining.

The question remains whether Priyanka had an illicit affair or whether her husband was an innocent victim because of a troubled stalker. While the story in itself has a wafer thin plot, it is the narrative style and the performances that ensure the viewer is kept engaged till the end.

Very rarely does a film with a female protagonist and no definite male hero promise the thrills of a mainstream film. But this one does and Dinesh Baboo has extracted good performances by his entire cast, ably led by Prakash Raj and Priyanka Upendra.

The only flaw that acts as a hindrance in the narration is the soundtrack. The music, unlike most of Dinesh Baboo's films, lacks that 'x' factor and falls flat. Though, that is a minor setback, given that the rest of the film is engaging. Go for it, its worth the trip to the cinemas.
