Not Out

Plot: Not Out is set during the coronavirus pandemic and revolves around the lives of Ajay, Sridevi, and Devaraj.

Review: Ambulance driver Ajay (Ajay Prithvi) and nurse Sridevi (Rachana Inder), who are in love, plan to settle in Qatar but face many hurdles in accomplishing their dream.

The duo get job opportunities abroad, but their passports are held by Devaraj (P Ravishankar), from whom Ajay had borrowed Rs 10 lakh to buy an ambulance. The ambulance is stolen, putting Ajay in trouble. Unaware of these developments, Sridevi keeps asking for the passport and even threatens to commit suicide if she doesn't get it.

Meanwhile, Sridhar (Gopalkrishna Deshpande), who has been living abroad, returns to his hometown. Devaraj wants the land owned by Sridhar’s father, but Sridhar refuses, leading to a tussle between the two. Despite repeated pleas, Devaraj refuses to relent. Gopalkrishna, wanting Devaraj eliminated, hires Ajay and his friend Snake Sudhi to kill Devaraj so he can have complete control over the land. Whether they murder Devaraj becomes the focal point of the movie.

Director Ambarisha has chosen an edge-of-the-seat subject, nicely intertwined with subplots that include thriller and love elements, almost falling perfectly into place. He wastes no time establishing the plot, which remains engrossing from beginning to end with a gripping storyline. Newbie Ajay Prithvi has done his best. Rachana Inder as a nurse delivers a good performance. All in all, Not Out is worth watching this weekend.
