Navelru... Half Boiled

A group of four friends - a boy who is interview-hopping, a car mechanic, and two stay-at-home guys - one of whom is alcohol crazed while the other is besotted with women - find themselves in a strange situation when they accidentally come across some expensive loot. Will it be a rags-to-riches story or does fate have something else in store?

Navelru... Half Boiled takes its time to establish the context. The actors do put forth earnest performances, and the pace does pick up in the latter part of the film, but the storyline - with its multiple narratives, and new characters cropping up intermittently - feels haphazard.

One wonders if the hum-worthy song-and-dance sequences (primarily featured in the first half), the scenic set design and camera work, are enough to keep audiences engaged. While there are a few witty one-liners, overall, the humour is a bit cliched. Certain premises seem to have been force fit in the quest for hilarity. A concise, quick-paced screenplay, might have made this fare more delectable.
