Lodde

Dharmegowda and Rudrappa, former best friends, are two warring honchos in a village. Narasimha and Akanksha, their grandchildren, fall in love and want to reunite the friends. Will they succeed?

This film is scripted by Srinath, who has earlier given successful comic capers like Rambo and Victory. Alas, this time around, Lodde isn't worth writing home about, nor is the hackneyed direction by SV Suresh.

This film begins as a Dr Vishnuvardhan tribute. While it looks appealing in the first few attempts, the later scenes involving Komal copying Vishnu's hand movements looks like a rather silly spoof more than a tribute.

Also, as the story progresses to the main plot that involves uniting two warring families because of a previous misunderstanding, the tribute is forgotten completely till the final credits. Here we see a heavily inspired tribute to the late thespian, titled Lodde Dance, err... remember Lungi Dance and Rajini tribute?

Komal does his usual antics and gets the galleries to laugh. Newbie Akanksha Puri shows spunk. Sajayji and Avinash have rather cliched roles of warring former friends and do just what's required of them. Mukhyamantri Chandru is seen after a while on the big screen in a rather typical quasi-comic-villainous role. And we wonder what made a talented actor like Naveen Krishna take up an unpalatable cameo in this film.

Watch this film only if you are a Komal fan. The Vishnuvardhan fans could rather revisit an old DVD and enjoy the thrills.
