Vijay is an unemployed youngster who has to repay a loan shark who is a dangerous thug. He also plans on eloping with his girlfriend Anu, when he finishes repaying his debt. But what happens when nothing goes as per his plan and everything ends up moving from one misadventure to another?


This dark comedy is the official remake of the Malayalam film Neram. It stays honest to the original as much as it can. The narrative deals with the multiple mishaps that happen in the life of the protagonist. The story keeps the viewer engaged mostly, but it does seem to lose the steam at times, where the narrative slows down.
The plot of this story is simple, Vijay has no job, has a loan to repay and has been rejected by the parents of his lover for the same reasons. Just when Vijay and his girl Anu think they have their problems sorted there occur a series of misadventures that make the duo question whether they can get their happily ever after.
The film is slick and technically strong. It is stylised and visually appealing. But one wonders if the pace that was the USP of the original was shortchanged for the visual appeal. Vijay Raghavendra and Sangeetha Bhat make a good looking pair and do a commendable job. The ensemble cast has been carefully put together. Nandagopal as the loan shark is entertaining. Chikkanna is a treat in his different avatar.
Kismat is an earnest effort and it shows. It will especially appeal to those who haven't seen the original. And for those who have, Vijay has tried to put his own spin to the character that he dons.
