Kariya 2

Prabhu Srinivas and Santhosh Balaraj made a decent first outing together with the crowd pleasing action film Ganapa. This time around, the take on another such action subject, which also has ample dose of romance and family sentiment. The added responsibility is that they take on a title which is a cult hit among mass fans.


With the A certificate and the opening fight sequence, we know there is a bloody tale lying ahead of us (all pun intended). But, how different is the film from the regular underworld stories that one sees is the question. Kariya 2 has certain parts that remind one of different films, but the filmmaker has pieced together an interesting tale of love and revenge.


But what fails this film is some shoddy editing and insertion of unpalatable comedy that revolve around genitalia and sex. The film could have been a slick story that deals with Kariya and his life, but these impediments ensure one is distracted from the screen often.


Santhosh and Mayuri have performed well, though. The film rests mainly on their shoulders and they try to salvage it through their performances. But will this be enough to sail the film through to the masses, is to be seen. The action scenes, though, can be a treat for people who like their gory fight sequences. Try it if that's your cuppa.
