Kabzaa Review: Kabzaa, set in the pre-independence period, revolves around the life of Arkeshwara(Upendra), the son of a freedom fighter, who turns rowdy, and then a mafia don. He then goes on to build a huge empire. What makes him such a strong force and why the son of a patriotic father becomes an underworld don is the main elements of the movie. There is also another story of a royal family which keeps viewers hooked to the content.

Arkeshwara is a man with a mission who leaves no stone unturned to end the British tyranny, but he chooses a path which no one has treaded. R Chandru, who has given more emphasis to the making, manages to recreate the 1940’s period by erecting huge sets and even costumes which look realistic on the screen. By giving more importance to Arkeshwara’s character, it does seem like the story, which could have delved deep, becomes weak leading to the screenplay losing its steam. The background music serves well to the plot.

Upendra has played his character to perfection. Sudeep has a special cameo as Bhargav Bakshi which manages to make an impact. Shriya Saran being Madhumathi carries the emotional element, Murali Sharma, Sunil Puranik and Anoop Revanna have given their best. Namami song visually fascinates amidst all the blood and gore sequences. There are a host of villains in the movie, but Arkeswhara stands tall among them. There are many one-liners and punching dialogues which play to the gallery. Shivarajkumar’s entry in the climax brings another twist in the tale and is one of the main points in the movie. The story, visual presentation, and ensemble cast makes the movie worth watching.
