Huchudugaru

RJ Pradeepa has put the right foot forward while making his debut as a director. With a good script, Pradeep has created a commercial story weaving action, romance, drama and a bit of politics together. Though there are many positives in the movie, the director fails to give a lively narration. It is dull, boring and many times irritating. The reason is the unwanted sequences and songs that are of least help to the story. The movie could have been trimmed by at least 20 minutes.

The story is about four youth - Shiva (Chethan Chandra), Madesha (Amith), Nanjunda (Prathap) and Shankara (Deva) coming to Bangalore from Nanjangud to finish Maari (Ravishankar), a rowdy involved in land dealing. This is to help Annayappa (Ravindrappa), who is threatened by Maari. Annayyappa had bailed out the boys by paying Rs 75,000 which they had lost while playing cards. In Bangalore, they join a tea shop run by Tabla Nani opposite to Maari’s house. What plan do they hatch to kill him? There is also a romantic track where Shiva falls in love with Parvathi (Aditi Rao) who had come to Bangalore in search of a job. She is dejected by her former lover Harsha (Niranjan). The climax gets interesting with a political tone which the director has handled well.

Full marks to Chethan Chandra, Pratap and Deva for their remarkable performance. Amith spoils many sequences with his over acting. Aditi Rao, in her first movie, impresses with excellent expressions and dialogue delivery. Ravishankar is at his best as Maari. Music by Joshua Sridhar is good. Shaman Mithra has done very well with his cinematography.
