Plot: Set in a boys hostel, Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare tells a thrilling story which unfolds over a single night

Movie review: There is no lead protagonist in Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare. The story revolves around the antics of college boys. Ajith, a student who aspires to do a short film creates a script which becomes eerily close to reality when the hostel warden is found dead under mysterious circumstances. The students panic but it doesn’t last all that long.

What follows after the warden’s death is non-stop fun combined with thriller elements which take viewers, especially ones who have enjoyed their hostel life, through a nostalgic journey. The movie doesn’t stick strongly to a particular genre, and that works to its advantage.

At certain points, it seemed as if the director was running out of content, but he manages to keep it engrossing with some unexpected twists and turns. Manjunath Nayak as warden has done a fantastic job. Ramya’s character is sure to leave you spellbound. Besides, cameos by Rishab Shetty, Shine Shetty, Pawan Kumar and Diganth Manchale add spice to the story.

Director Nithin Krishnamurthy has ticked most of the boxes in his debut film, making him one of the talented directors to watch out for in Sandalwood. Cinematographer Arvind Kashyap deserves all the credit for the film’s visualization, as he has single handedly carried the film on his shoulders. A slew of new actors have performed well. Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare will make for a perfect weekend watch.
