Hagalu Kanasu

Dinesh Baboo's Hagalu Kanasu releases after quite some delay. The film is a simple comedy of errors that has a blackmailing temptress at the helm of affairs. The story, set predominantly in a big bungalow, is all about how the family deals with this young girl, with some gags, songs and even a mumbling ghost thrown in for good measure.

While the premise of this comedy seems interesting, the treatment seems at least a decade too late. And one wonders if there could have been a better suited cast too, as most of the times the film seems like a telefilm with excessive theatrics. Master Anand, who is the lead, manages to generate some laughs. While debutante Saniha Yadav has a plum role, she falls short of expectations in pivotal scenes. The comic ensemble try their best to do most of what's given to them.

Hagalu Kanasu is reminiscent of the kind of comedy of errors that were seen in the 1980s. Unfortunately, the film doesn't have the contemporary makeover that is needed today. If you want some nostalgia of those films or some laughs that predictable humour, then this could be your choice.
