Guru

Story: Guru (Gururaj Jaggesh) is caught in several problems after a police officer kills a man on highway and takes away huge money kept in his car. The problem starts when Maya, the girlfriend of inspector Bopaiah (Shobhraj) videographs the conversation between him and other police officers about the money and the murder.

With many twists and turns that include murder of Maya by the inspector, the video camera lands in Guru’s room. To save their skin, police officers try to spoil Guru’s life and give him lot of trouble, including admitting him in a mental hospital for the video camera. They also try to kill him along with other two in an encounter. But luck saves Guru and he comes out like Abhimanyu coming out of Chakravyuha. How does he do it? We also have a romantic track where Guru falls in love with Ankitha (Rashmi Gautham), a doctor by profession.

Movie Review: Jaggesh’s directorial debut has proved that he too can join the list of talented directors who have contributed some excellent movies to Sandalwood. He has directed his son Gururaj, who has donned the hero’s role. The subject that Navarasanayaka has selected is that of a boy who comes out several problems.

It’s a good show by Jaggesh as director. Armed with a good script, the Navarasanayaka has seen to it that the narration, the key to success in any movie, is lively with action, sentiments and romance in sequence. But he could have done a better job with the climax which is not convincing.

Full marks to Gururaj who has given a matured performance with expression and dialogue delivery. Rashmi is impressive. Srinivasamurthy is gracious. We have excellent numbers from music director Vinayachandra. Cinematography by Ramesh Babu is quite good.
