Plot: Life in a traditional small town turns upside down when a ‘modern product’ is introduced to them. Is it a boon or a bane?

Review:

The life of Ramakrishna Bhatta (Sundar Veena) keeps moving, albeit at a slow pace, with a fine balance of friendship, love, and hate until a television set arrives at his doors. Though he shows no interest in it initially, the fascination and excitement of the villagers about the device makes him very interested in the ‘modern device'. And even though it doesn’t belong to him, he uses it as a showpiece to lure the villagers and gain popularity. The villagers are stunned to watch Ramayana and other serials on TV. But a twist in the tale changes everything, including the lives of Bhatta and his family, especially his son (Prithvi Ambaar) and his friends. The twist finally leads to a happy ending.

There was a sense of curiosity when the TV first arrived. A twinkle in our eyes and excitement in our tone The owner of the TV enjoyed a sense of pride. People flocked around the veranda of the house. This film, "Doordarshana," is about the fascination surrounding the invention called television. The film that is set in the 80s and 90s is about friendship, love, pride, and selfishness intertwined with entertainment. It also carries a good message.

The film doesn’t lag anywhere and feels like a smooth ride through nostalgia, especially for those who belong to the doom box TV era and watched DD channels.

Though Pruthvi is the hero of the film and has done a great job, it is Sunder Veena who consumes the whole movie as Ramakrishna Bhatta. He has literally lived the role. Ayana, Ugram Manju, Harini Shrikant, and Ragu Ramanakoppa have lived up to their roles and done a good job. Vasuki’s music lingers on. Arun Suresh’s cinematography is commendable. Through this film, director Sukesh Shetty has created some expectations.
