Kush is a successful gynecologist who lives life in a carefree way. He chooses to marry a girl of his family's choice. This perfect homemaker named Khushi seems to be just the gullible wife he wanted to ensure he continues to live his playful life post marriage. Or so he thinks...

Suni is one filmmaker who seems to understand Gen Now better than the rest. Right from his debut, his films have a youthful demeanor. And #Chamak follows suit. The film is young and talks to the current hashtag generation in their lingo. It might seem a little long, and the comedy track may perhaps stick out, but it gives Sandalwood a breezy romcom that has eluded it for a while.

What happens when one chooses to give chamak and get into a marriage trying to hide his true identity? This is exactly what #Chamak is all about. If Suni's first tale onscreen was a simple love story, this one is a not-so-simple marriage story. It deals with the life of Kush, a gynecologist, and Khushi, his wife and homemaker. How will they face each other when their hidden truths come out in the open? What works is that the film remains breezy at the same time and ensures one enjoys the happenings in the couple's lives and feel like they are a part of their journey.

The film mainly lies on the shoulders of the two protagonists and Ganesh and Rashmika Mandanna do a great job at ensuring the audience are with them throughout. Kush seems like an extension of Ganesh, given the ease with which he pulls off the character. Rashmika is a revelation. While she proved that her smile can ensure people fall for her in Kirik Party, with this film she shows she is competent at both comedy and emotional sequences. The ensemble cast entertains, but the two lead characters stand out.

Suni and his team have written dialogues that make one laugh and applaud. Judah Sandhy's music is another highlight and there are a few tracks that linger long after one leaves the hall. Santosh Rai Pathaje needs a mention for giving visuals that are glossy and colourful, which are a must for a good romcom. Whether or not the few extra comedy scenes featuring Sadhu Kokila are needed is debatable, but the filmmaker needs to be appreciated for delivering a clean effort that does not have unpalatable humour or dialogues.

#Chamak is a sweet film that is feel good and it is a nice way to end the year. Go ahead and watch the film if you like Ganesh, Rashmika and Suni, or if you like films that are light-hearted and bring that smile on your face.
