Appayya

There is nothing in this film that Sandalwood viewers haven’t seen before. Though the director has done a good job with a neat script and narration, he could have trimmed some of the violence sequences.

The story centres around two rival families, headed by Goravayya and Devarajanna respectively. Appayya (Srinagara Kitty), who’s in the male lead, has been brought up by Goravayya. Naturally, Appayya is very loyal to him. However, he falls in love with Gowra (Bhama), the daughter of Devarajanna. As the affair becomes public, the rivalry between the two families intensifies. Goravayya is stabbed by Devarajanna. Devarajanna invites Appayya on the pretext of getting his daughter married to him but beats him black and blue. In the end, a dramatic turn of events unites the couple.

Srinagar Kitty is composed even in his ruggedness. Bhama has delivered a commendable performance. Jagadish Wali’s cinematography is impressive.
