V's 'Layover' earns exclusive spot as the sole K-pop album on UK's '2023 Best Albums' list

In a significant nod to global musical diversity, British entertainment magazine 'TimeOut' has unveiled its meticulously curated list of the ‘2023 The 30 Best Albums’, spotlighting the most exceptional musical creations of the year. Among the elite selection, BTS's V, also known as Kim Taehyung, emerged as the sole representative from the realm of K-pop, securing the 19th position with his debut EP, 'Layover'.

This recognition places Taehyung in esteemed company, as he shares the prestigious list with internationally acclaimed Western artists such as Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith, Troye Sivan, and distinguished singer-songwriters in the English-speaking music scene like Raye and Cat Power.

'TimeOut' showered praise on Taehyung's musical prowess, spotlighting his distinctive husky baritone and the EP's jazz-leaning, R&B sound. Among the six tracks on 'Layover', the magazine particularly lauded 'Slow Dancing' and 'For Us' as standout pieces. The former was described as a soulful track that glides with the elegance befitting its eponymous activity, while the latter earned accolades for its intriguing key change midway through.


With 'Layover', V has not only asserted his individuality within the BTS collective but has also earned a distinctive place on a prestigious international platform. He recently enlisted for the mandatory military service with RM. They are expected to be discharged by June 2025.
