Stray Kids’ Bang Chan had revealed that a deepfake video of him had been circulating online. In recent news idol had taken strict action against the perpetrators and issued a subpoena order to reveal the identity of the person. As per reports attained by many fans, the singer, statement in the appeal has been shared online, leaving fans emotional over the news.


Bang Chan gets a subpoena approved

As per reports from Seoul Wire, the idol, along with his legal representation, had filed an appeal with the American court in order to serve a popular social media platform with a notice. The subpoena was filed in order to reveal the identity of the person running the account who shared a deepfake video of him online, which ended up going viral.Within a few days, the appeal was officially accepted by the court. After this, Bang Chan will be able to find out more about who your perpetrators are and proceed with legal actions accordingly in the South Korean court.Similarly, fellow member Felix had also filed a subpoena with the US court to reveal the identity of the person who had alleged that he does not treat the staff members around him well enough and that he treats them like servants.

Bang Chan’s statement from his appeal goes viral

Since legal documents and case documents such as this are legally a part of public information, fans obtained copies of the appeal that was filed by the rapper as well as his legal representation. The statement in the appeal has left fans extremely emotional online. His statement in the appeal read that, “Being depicted as saying the sexually explicit statements has caused significant harm to my reputation as a singer, and I have suffered significant mental distress, physical distress, and humiliation, and I have been devastated by the sexually explicit manner in which I have been falsely depicted”.
The videos were made using AI and deepfake technology to show the idol doing racist actions, saying the N word, and even making sexually explicit comments as well.


Fans and netizens react

The copies of the appeal went viral online as fans expressed their sadness over the matter. One comment from a fan read that, “I genuinely feel sick to my stomach reading this”, while another shared, “oh god. i remember when these were going around. i hope that he or his team is able to find the identities of these users so he can end their asses for good. What the f*** is truly wrong with people. i’m disturbed all over again. i can’t imagine how he felt/feels”.
